Kent Bed and Breakfast
West Forge bed and breakfast is situated in the heart of Kent countryside, surrounded by strawberry fields and orchards. We are located a mile from Leeds Castle, several miles outside Maidstone, Kent, in a quiet country lane that is within easy reach of the M20, about 40 minutes from the ferries at Dover and Folkstone.
The property was built in 1888 and was a residence for a blacksmith; some of the workings are still in evidence. The surrounding countryside is typical of The Garden of Kent, which is known for its soft fruit farms and, previously, hops, with many well preserved oast houses nearby.
Our b&b is well placed for visiting many historically interesting towns, gardens and houses nearby and a short drive from the South Coast, with its quaint seaside towns. We are just a few miles from the North Downs Way where it passes through Detling and Thurnham, and are on the fringe of the Kent Downs AONB.
We have one double and one twin room, both with ensuite shower, and a family room with private bathroom. All rooms have views out over our garden to fields beyond. Tea and coffee making facilities and colour tvs are provided, and we have recently converted our roofspace to provide a sitting room for guests use ( subject to availability ). We now have fast, wireless internet access in every bedroom.
There are a couple of pubs within walking distance, and many more within driving distance, as well as a number of good restaurants nearby that we can advise on. We speak French and German. Well behaved dogs are welcome.
Unfortunately, because of the layout of the house we are unable to provide access for wheelchairs, and would recommend that if you are at all concerned about access it would be best to call us in advance. Click here to download our access statement.
Please note that we do not have the facility to take payment by credit or debit card, and so can only accept cash or cheques.
